Master Again Extends Her Love to Namibia

By Johannesburg Relief Team (Originally in English)

In January and February 2009, unusually heavy rains linked
to climate change caused severe flooding in northern Namibia, with
water levels in the Zambezi River reaching over eight meters. More
than 700,000 people were affected, with 40,000 left homeless and
in urgent need of assistance. Most homes in the region were damaged
or destroyed, more than 200 schools and health clinics were closed,
and crops were destroyed over a wide area. In the wake of the flooding,
the humanitarian group Caritas Namibia began identifying victims’
              needs and distributing aid.
On June 16, Association members from the Johannesburg,
South Africa Center traveled to the town of Oshakati, Oshana region,
where they learned from government officials that although the flood
waters had subsided, many people had lost their crops and possessions.
With US$15,000 contributed by Master for this second aid mission
of the year, the relief team bought and distributed about 18 tons
of food. For the first relief mission, Master had contributed US$10,000
in March 2009. (please refer to News #203 for detailed report.)

The local council was so happy that they insisted on sharing the
news of Master’s help and quickly organized a press conference
with the local newspaper New Era and a TV crew from the Namibian
Broadcasting Corporation. The Oshana region’s Governor Clemens
Kashuupulwa also attended. During the conference, our Association
members stressed the importance of being vegan to reduce global
warming, explaining that Master offers only vegan items to those
in need around the world. Afterwards, Governor Kashuupulwa thanked
Supreme Master Ching Hai for Her timely help.
