Master’s Loving Aid Reaches Flood Victims
By Cape Town News Group (Originally in English)

In June and July 2009, South Africa’s Cape Peninsula and Western Cape were struck by severe storms that left many homes flooded, especially informal shelters near flood-prone rivers and wetlands. More than 20,000 residents of such dwellings were affected by the harsh weather conditions. Thus, the City of Cape Town Municipality promptly established six emergency shelters, providing hot meals and giving aid to those affected.

Upon learning of the disaster, our most caring Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately sent US$15,000 to further assist the victims. Local initiates formed a relief team to render help in the most severely affected areas of Khayelitsha, Netreg, Bontheuwel, and Sir Lowry’s Pass Village. After preparing relief parcels, the team was graciously accompanied by members of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Department Centre, who also provided a vehicle to transport some of the parcels, which reached a total of 560 households, five daycare centers, one primary school, and one clinic. Blankets, food, toiletries, and envelopes containing funds were distributed along with SOS flyers and DVDs on climate change. The recipients were deeply grateful and rejoiced at receiving the items, expressing their heartfelt thanks to the kind Lady from afar whose love knows no bounds!
