Ride to Work Day

By Melbourne News Team (Originally in English)

[Melbourne] The annual Ride to Work Day in Australia was  on Wednesday, October 14, Golden Year 6 (2009). Staff at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne celebrated the day with a delicious vegan breakfast prepared by our local Association members.

Doctors, nurses, medical researchers and various other staff enjoyed the fruit salad, vegan muffins, apple pies and vegan quiche that were offered. At an information table, many also spent time speaking with our Association members, and received free DVDs, leaflets and booklets on topics ranging from vegan nutrition and health to climate change and the vegan solution.

The organizers of the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Ride to Work Day were grateful for the food and in a letter of thanks wrote: “The spread of food you provided was outstanding. We would like to thank you and your team for your enthusiasm and willingness to speak to staff about climate change, and for providing them with information booklets and brochures.”

With over 100 staff participating, many, for the first time, became aware of the effects of our dietary choices on the planet.
