By Kuala Lumpur News Group (Originally in English)

[Kuala Lumpur] The modern day health and nutrition classic The Realization of Health authored by Supreme Master Ching Hai was officially launched at the Read Malaysia 2009 held at the Malaysia International Exhibition & Convention Centre. Endorsed by the Malaysian Education Ministry, the Book Fair lasted ten days from May 29 to June 7, Golden Year 6 (2009), attracted hundreds of publishing houses, book distributors and educational products suppliers, as well as about 400,000 visitors, making it one of the largest Book Fairs in the region.

Apart from introducing to the public the Chinese and English versions of The Realization of Health, our Association members from Kuala Lumpur also promoted Master’s best-selling books and showcased many colorful products from Love Ocean Creative International. With special permission from the organizers, Association members from other states and Singapore were allowed to distribute SOS flyers, DVDs as well as special booklets to appeal to fellow Malaysians to adopt a plant-based diet in view of the dire situation of the planet. In addition, a series of stage activities were also organized to inform and entertain the guests during the ten-day event, including presentations on global warming and nutrition, vegan cooking shows and food tasting, dancing, and a Yoga and Shao Lin kung-fu demonstration.

The highlight of our Association members’ participation in this Book Fair was a press conference, held on June 6, to officially launch The Realization of Health in the presence of local TV stations and newspaper media as well as Supreme Master TV. Guest speakers including the President of the Malaysian Vegetarian Society, Mr. P. Vythilingam; the principal of the Natural Homeopathy Care Center, Dr Joean Oon; the Chairman of the Malaysian Meatless Day Campaign Committee, Mr. Pishu Murli Hassaram; and a certified Nutritionist and Health Consultant, Mr. Chong Fat Eng delivered very profound and insightful comments on this book. All agreed that Master has much to offer to the world due to Her compassion, love and deep concern for the welfare of all beings on Earth. As a gesture of appreciation to the gracious speakers and their contribution to the event, our Association members gave each of them a set of gifts. All participants were treated to a tasty and healthy vegan buffet provided by the local Loving Hut restaurant.

The ten-day book fair ended with great success. The organizers and other exhibitors came to the fellow initiates’ booth to express their gratitude for their participation. They thank Master for Her divine love, presence and guidance in all that they proposed to do during the Book Fair.

Making Vegan Cakes
By Johore Bahru News Group (Originally in Chinese)

[Johore Bahru] To encourage more people to adopt the vegan diet, and to show them how easy it is to make delectable cakes and snacks without using eggs or milk, on June 28, Golden Year 6 (2009), our local Center held a cooking class at Tadika Mulia Kindergarten.

We taught, free of charge, how to make vegan pizza, vegan banana muffins, vegan cheese and the children’s favorite, vegan fruity ice cream. The benefits of the animal-free diet and the harm that eggs and milk cause to our body were also explained. In addition, pamphlets containing these recipes and those of other vegan delicacies were prepared for everyone. Some guests especially requested more copies of the recipes to share with their relatives and friends.
