Born in 1971 of Albanian and Greek descent, stunning Hollywood actress Mariana Tosca also happens to be an award-winning photojournalist, poet, and an Ovation Award-winning theatre actress who has starred in over 60 productions regionally and Off-Broadway. She is also a member of Mensa, the most famous high-IQ society in the world! But aside from all the awards and accolades, it is Mariana’s noble and human quality that makes her a star of stars. She exemplifies the beauty and grace of a person who has a highly developed sense of compassion for all beings, a loving heart and an open mind always seeking deeper understanding. On her website is a quote from Emily Dickenson that reads, “We never know how high we are until we are asked to rise...

During an interview with Supreme Master Television in August, Golden Year 5 (2008), Mariana shared the unforgettable moment when she realized the sentient nature of all animals. She was six years old while driving with her parents on the freeway when a cattle truck drove up alongside them. She recalls: “I locked eyes with these really beautiful soulful eyes and we just stared at each other as we were driving in tandem next to each other in the lanes.” When she later found out the horrible reality that they would become someone’s dinner, she refused to touch meat products again. “I just cut out eating anything that had eyes and a soul and a mother.” Almost two years ago, Mariana became a vegan when she met Lori Bauston, founder of Animal Acres Farm Sanctuary, and truly understood the cruelty that animals experience on a daily basis in factory farms.

In 2001, Mariana starred as a vegetarian in the comedy movie “Christmas in the Clouds,” which also co-starred Native Canadian, Graham Greene, who played a vegetarian chef. The movie received Best Competition Feature Film at the Austin Film Festival as well as Best Native American Theme Film at the Santa Fe Film Festival. Marianna commented on the movie, “I was really delighted to be able to get the message out through mainstream media.” Because of her compassionate dietary choices, many of her fellow actors also had a chance to try out vegetarian food on the set and gave positive feedback about the experience! Remarking on the notion of being a role model, she said, “The thought of actually having some small, small part in perhaps changing someone’s way of thinking to a more peaceful and eco-friendly lifestyle, to me would just be the greatest thing in the world.”

As a result of her love for all living things, Mariana is actively involved in several reputable organizations that protect animal rights. She is the International Spokesperson for In Defense of Animals and consistently campaigns for Last Chance for Animals, Humane Society of the United States, and the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. With her generous heart, Mariana also adopts dogs from animal shelters and finds them loving homes as well as having three beautiful canine companions herself that give her a priceless lifetime gift of friendship, loyalty and devotion.

To help increase the adoption rate at the non-kill shelter, Glendale Human Society in Glendale, California, Mariana had the idea of matching dogs with potential families through live action video clips, free of charge! She thus launched “Canine Cinema” in 2003 and has produced over 100 movies for people to view. Due to its huge success, Canine Cinema was featured on Good Day L.A., Fox 11 News, and Animal Planet. In fact, other shelters outside of California also began to ask for Canine Cinema’s help. And for cat lovers, Mariana’s latest endeavor, “Feline Films,” celebrates the connection between our feline friends and their human companions.

She has also done a public service announcement to support the California Healthy Pets Act and supports the worldwide action to halt global warming, recently attending the Los Angeles Climate Change International Conference in California on July 26, 2008.

Mariana Tosca is a luminous being who shines from the inside out, a truly noble soul fit for Heaven’s “Walk of Fame.” Even as a famous Hollywood actress, she knows that outer beauty is fleeting while inner beauty is eternal and thus uses her goodwill and talents to make a difference where she can. We wish Ms. Mariana Tosca continued success in fulfilling her dreams and inspiring more people to be beautiful citizens of Earth through such compassionate actions as the animal-free vegan lifestyle.
