Global Warming Seminars

By Gunma News Group (Originally in Japanese)

[Gunma] On July 12, Golden Year 6 (2009), our Gunma Center held a SOS Global Warming Seminar at Ohga Hall in Karuizawa Town in Nagano Prefecture. There were three presentations: “Organic Farming and the Vegan Diet,” “The Relationship between Global Warming and the Extinction of Marine Species,” and “An Animal-Free Diet - The Solution to Save the Planet.”

Seminar attendees came from all walks of life, many of whom commented that they had received precious and up-to-date information, and believed that the government and news media should take the lead in advocating an animal-free diet to mitigate the warming of the planet. An elementary school teacher said, “I have been instructing the children about all kinds of pollution, but from now on, I will teach them about the relationship between the meat diet and climate change. I will also advise and encourage my neighbors to adopt the plant-based diet. I think the time has come to reveal the truth to the public. I really did the right thing by coming here today!” During the questions and answers session, some people wanted to understand more about the connection between the current swine flu pandemic and animal farming. Upon knowing that animal agriculture is the leading cause of this infectious disease, most guests agreed that we should eliminate this kind of industry and adopt an animal-free lifestyle.

On September 27, the Gunma Center held another global warming seminar; this time it was at the Kumagaya Hall in Kumagaya City in Saitama Prefecture. Several speakers addressed this pressing subject, and video footage of Dr. Stephen Schneider discussing the issue of the warming of the planet and its relationship to the vegan diet during an interview with Supreme Master Television was shown. Many seminar attendees understood the cause of global warming and the harmful effects of meat-eating, and were very supportive of a vegan lifestyle.

Thanks to Master’s blessings, after the seminars many people were inspired to changing to a vegetarian diet. Some of them even became advocates in spreading the planet-saving message of becoming a vegan. Gunma Center fellow initiates are wholeheartedly grateful to Master for Her guidance and will continue in their endeavors to save the Earth.

Tokyo VegeFood Festa 2009

By Tokyo News Group (Originally in Japanese)

[Tokyo] On October 17 and 18, Golden Year 6 (2009), “Tokyo VegeFood Festa 2009” welcomed its 7th anniversary in the Tokyo Yoyogi Park. Over 100 vendors including vegetarian restaurants, organic cooking supply shops, as well as about 24,000 visitors participated in the event, more than in any other year in the history of the Tokyo Vegetarian Festival. Only vegan food was served this year, thanks to all the members of the Festa Executive Committee.

The Loving Hut in Tokyo opened a booth at the event to offer over 1,000 steamed buns, lunch boxes, vegan cakes and other delicacies. Fellow initiates also handed out SOS flyers and DVDs along with “Meat Free Monday” leaflets to the visitors. They observed that people have become more conscious about their health and the environment, and the younger generation is especially receptive to the message. They were excited to see that the Japanese food culture trend is changing in the direction of vegetarianism.
