Flood Victims in Southern Thailand Receive Loving
Support
By Bangkok News Group (Originally in Thai)
In
July 2009, incessant torrential rainfall in Thailand caused widespread
flooding, and over 3,000 families in Phang Nga province, the most
seriously affected area, were isolated by the high water. Upon hearing
of the disaster, Supreme Master Ching Hai immediately offered funds
to help those who had lost their homes and possessions.
From July 21-23, 2009, our Association members in Bangkok
and Southern Thailand formed a relief team to distribute aid and
went to the Takua Pa district in Phang Nga, where the water levels
had been two to three meters high for several days. Rice, vegetable
oil, and soy sauce were distributed to 3,600 families in Takua Pa
district as well as to 709 families in the Bang Sai sub-district,
where the flooding was most severe. On July 24, the food distribution
continued with another 550 families in the Takua Pa and Thai Mueang
districts. Specially prepared sweets and soy milk were given to
the children, and SOS flyers and Master’s sample booklets
to the adults, who deeply appreciated Master’s loving concern
and gave Her their special thanks.
