Caring Gifts for Humans and Animals in Need

By Seoul News Group (Originally in Korean)

In Korea, autumn is the season for making kimchi, a nutritious, pickled cabbage dish that has long been an important wintertime food in Korean households. This year, during the first Loving Kimchi Festival at the Youngdong (Sangju) Center, Association members from all over South Korea gathered to make spicy organic vegan kimchi for the country’s less fortunate. A hundred and twenty boxes of the food were distributed to widowed seniors, the homeless, a center for the disabled and an animal shelter run by a sister-initiate from the Seoul Center.

After learning of the event, on January 11, Golden Year 6 (2009), Supreme Master Ching Hai contributed US$5,000 to the shelter, which houses 40 dogs and cats. The much-needed cash gift supports the shelter’s daily operations and was gratefully received. On Master's behalf the Seoul Center also sent some vegan cat and dog food along with Her love to all its cherished residents.
