When our beloved Master heard that some parts of Fiji were
seriously flooded due to recent heavy rains, She quickly allocated
US$15,000 to bring relief to the affected areas.
With
Master’s blessing and perfect arrangement, three initiates from
Australia booked the earliest possible flight to Fiji on January 15,
2009. As soon as they arrived at Nadi Airport, they met a local person
named Poni, who not only helped them to find a place to stay but also
volunteered to be their guide. The owner of the house where the initiates
stayed kindly rented them his spare shop for a very low price, which
they used to store and prepare the relief items for distribution.
Very quickly, they were able to rent a van to deliver the much-needed
food supplies purchased from a large nearby wholesale company. God
sent them many helpers, including three members of the Seventh-Day
Adventist Church group. The extra help allowed the relief team to
divide into two small groups, with one Australian brother staying
in the shop to continue the packing with the helpers, while the other
two initiates were out distributing the food parcels.
Everywhere
they went, Master always sent someone to direct them to those most
in need of assistance. Despite muddy road conditions, the team was
able to provide the first relief foods to Lautoka, where people were
taking everything out of their houses to let it dry. In the town of
Barotu, the local counselor guided them to the flood victims and at
the end of the day said, “I’m so touched that I cannot
find words to express my feelings. God bless Supreme Master Ching
Hai for Her kind heart.”
Many affected by the flood asked them to pass on their
thanks to Master for Her noble deeds and sent their best wishes to
Her. The relief team was deeply moved to see the Fiji people, who
are so gentle and saintly in nature, keep their optimistic and cheerful
spirit in spite of the hardship. They thank Master for all the blessings
She bestowed upon them all during the entire relief effort.
